Zhang Wenxiu
WOMEN'S HAMMER THROW (FINAL BEGINS AT 19:00 ON AUG 27)
Born: March 22, 1986
Height: 1.82m
Weight: 113kg
Despite competing at the worlds six times and in three Olympics since 2001, Zhang has never managed to finish atop the podium - although she has won four bronze medals. Zhang was involved in a doping controversy at the 2014 Asiad, which saw her gold medal stripped after she tested positive for a banned substance. She was reinstated last May after successfully appealing the decision to the Court of Arbitration of Sport, citing contaminated food. Zhang is regaining her focus and looks ready to challenge for a medal in Beijing.
