Beijing's Wang Yuning will travel to New York City to represent Team China in the Major League Baseball Fan Cave during the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

Sixteen fans, one representing each of the participating World Baseball Classic countries and territories, will cheer on their nations during the tournament as part of the "MLB Fan Cave: World Baseball Classic Edition". The 18-day tournament begins March 2.

Wang, 29, played on her Chinese college's baseball and softball clubs. She is a fan of her hometown team, the Beijing Tigers, and admires Ichiro Suzuki, a baseball star in both his native Japan and the US, for his talent and work ethic.

Wang is currently studying sport management at the University of Delaware with the hope of one day working in baseball.

"Being part of the MLB Fan Cave is an incredible opportunity, and I am looking forward to cheering on Team China and my baseball heroes," Wang said.

"I believe in Team China and know it is ready to compete on the global stage of the World Baseball Classic. Go, China! Go, China's baseball team! Play like warriors!"

While taking part in the 18-day "MLB Fan Cave: World Baseball Classic Edition," the 16 fans will watch every game of the Classic live at all hours of the day and night. They also will share their national pride, meet baseball personalities and chronicle their experiences online through videos, blogs and other social media.

After a team is eliminated from the World Baseball Classic, the fan representing that team will leave the MLB Fan Cave. The fans of the final four teams will travel to the championship round in San Francisco to watch their teams compete for the title.
