From allowing some to become wealthy first to stressing common prosperity among all, social equality has remained one of the important issues since Deng Xiaoping's later years. From top leader Xi Jinping's promise to make society more equitable to the resolution of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee to promote social equity and justice and enhance people's welfare; from the fierce nationwide campaign to fight corruption and privilege and promote political equality to the unprecedented effort to reform the 60-year-old barriers to urban-rural migration; from the simplification of administrative procedures to the delegating of more powers from the central to local governments; all the government's measures are a reflection of its ongoing efforts to promote social equality.

History shows that China and the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics have achieved one victory after another by following the path pioneered by Deng.

Xinhuanet, Aug 20

Under the guidance of Deng Xiaoping's diplomatic thought, China's diplomacy has continuously introduced theoretical and practical innovations on the basis of maintaining the continuity and stability of its foreign policies. After the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in late 2012, top leader Xi Jinping made the proposal that China and the United States build a new type of major-power relationship, one featuring no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect, cooperation and win-win results. He also advocates friendly, candid, mutually beneficial and tolerant diplomatic relations with neighboring countries and efforts to promote the construction of a Silk Road economic belt and a 21st century maritime Silk Road, as well as a new security perspective in Asia. His top-level diplomatic policy designs show the direction and draw a blueprint for China's diplomatic work.
