Comment on "US still has a large plank in its eye" (China Daily, Feb 14)
Do not expect the United States to self-reflect. Its ego will not be hurt even if the world says that it is as much a a troublemaker as a world leader and troubleshooter. Just note some of US Secretary of State John Kerry's recent comments - they are aimed at humoring Japan's whims so that America can continue using Japan to contain China.
Chinese leaders must be consistent with their policy of not compromising on national sovereignty. I believe that the US has to gradually phase out its policy of containing China, and ultimately it will have to treat Beijing with respect.
