China needs to be firm
Comment on "Toward a not so stable 2012" (China Daily, Dec 21)
Well said. It is not the time to increase tensions now, but unfortunately there are still some elements that would like to stir up trouble by trying to take advantage of people's fears.
China has behaved with remarkable constraint, when you consider the multitude of agitations that have been aimed at it, not only economically but also politically and militarily. China may need to stand more firm, flexible but unyielding, and counter attack with peaceful means as circumstances dictate.

Greedy firms cause of problem
Comment on "Safety-first approach to aid"(China Daily, Dec 20)
China needs to know how bonds, be they in euros or US dollars, are financed. These bonds cannot be used to bail out their troubled firms.
Greedy and incompetent executives lead these firms. And these firms, their leaders and executives must be held responsible for their past mistakes and actions. If EU or US bail them out, their problems will worsen in coming years.
