China Taste, a new reality TV show produced by China Central Television, will provide amateur chefs with a stage to demonstrate their cooking skills to audiences nationwide.
Some 30 participants, aged between 18 and 64, will participate in the competition, which allows for only one winner.
The participants, ranging from students, white-collar professionals, diplomats, and housewives to retired workers, will share their love of cooking.
The competition will start with the participants’ special dishes but will also teach them how to cook classic Chinese dishes later on.
A section to judge the contesters’ creativity with provided ingredients will be a critical part throughout the 12-episode series.
To ensure fairness, members of chef associations, cooks from famous restaurants, gourmets, and cooking trainees will be invited as judges in blind tasting sessions.
The first episode will be shown on Friday at 6 pm on CCTV 1.
