Run by a pair of Australian ladies who know their barbecue, China Beach Club is really worth the trip to Mui Wo, even with the 15-minute walk from the ferry pier. Everyone brings his dog - and they join the hosts' pooches lounging away the day. Grab a table on the terrace or, if you have a large group, head upstairs to the roof for glorious views of Silvermine Bay. There are two-for-one Tequila Sunrises to help set the mood. Cheese toast was nine generous chunks of bread smothered with cheese and dotted with fiery chili. More sustenance can be found in medium-rare steak and delicately seasoned prawns under Surf and Turf. - Rebecca Lo
