It took two and a half years to finish the 12-episode series, which reveals climate change's impact in more than 10 countries on five continents and conveys the views of about 100 experts, scholars and government officials.
The series also adopts two-dimensional and three-dimensional animations to trace mankind's development. "It's the first Chinese documentary that demonstrates the theme from the perspective of humanity," says Yin Hong, executive deputy-director of Tsinghua University's School of Journalism and Communication.
The series premiered on Nov 19 on CCTV's documentary channel and the video website Iqiyi.com.
