Kodaly method courses available in China

By Chen Jie | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2017-09-06 09:43

The Chinese Musicians' Association is collaborating with the Kodaly Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music to run a training program based on Kodaly method in China.

The program comprises a series courses teaching music at different levels.

The faculty will include teachers from both China and Hungary.

Zoltan Kodaly (1882-1967) was a Hungarian composer and music educator who is famous for the Kodaly method — an approach to music education based on his philosophy of music.

The method was made part of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016.

"The Kodaly method improves intonation, rhythm skills, music literacy and the ability to sing in complex parts, and also helps in other areas such as reading and math," said Wei Dongming from Chinese Musicians' Association.
