A book titled "From the Banks of the Kalianyar to the State Palace: The Story of President Jokowi" was officially launched in Beijing on Wednesday.
The book has been produced in Chinese by Professor Xu Liping, a well known expert in Indonesia and Southeast Asian affairs, and five other Chinese academics. It provides a detailed description of Indonesian President Jokowi's life and experiences.
The book is being launched by the National Institute of International Strategy (NIIS)-China Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Social Sciences Academic Press (SSAP) as part of the celebrations for the 65th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Ties between Indonesia and China. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the signing of a strategic partnership between the two countries.
Soegeng Rahardjo, Indonesian ambassador to China, gave high praise to the work of Xu Liping and his colleagues. Indonesian President Joko Widodo is an ordinary person who was elected to lead a country. The ambassador hopes the book can inspire people in China and elsewhere, and help them better understand Indonesia, since the country has experienced great changes and has tremendous growth potential.
A seminar on the topic of "One Belt, One Road between Indonesia and China" was conducted after the press conference.
The book-launch and the seminar are aimed at promoting awareness of the growing cooperation between Indonesia and China. It is hoped that the event will contribute to the future enhancement of bilateral cooperation, while at the same time encouraging more extensive exchanges among scholars and experts in both countries.
