Premier Li Keqiang visited Jingrong makers town in Pixian county, Chengdu city, Southwest China's Sichuan province on April 25, 2016.
The town had once served as dormitories for workers from factories including Foxconn Technology Group. With the slowdown in traditional industries, the local government decided to rearrange the dorms into a makers town and offer free rent as an attraction.
Praising the innovative way to transform empty buildings into startup venues, Premier Li said: "It's just like a new economy coming to the market in the form of traditional industries."
