A memorial for two pilots with the Hong Kong Government Flying Service (GFS) has been vandalized, according to orientaldaily.on.cc.

Protesters have been blamed for the graffiti which says things like "I require a 'real' general election" and "689, step down."

Leung Chun-Ying was elected Hong Kong Chief Executive with 689 votes in 2012.

The GFS has reported the vandalism to police.

The memorial was set up in 2003 on Lantau Island in memory of former captain Peter Pang Fu-kwok and airman Dickson Chan Man-tik, who lost their lives in a helicopter crash during a rescue mission on August 26 that year.
