BISHKEK - The new Chinese leadership highly values China's relations with Kyrgyzstan and will continue to carry out the policy of good neighborhood and friendship, deepen bilateral cooperation and further enhance bilateral ties, a Chinese official said.
China-Kyrgyzstan relations have withstood the test of changing situations and have always kept a sound development momentum, State Councilor Guo Shengkun said during a meeting with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev on Tuesday.
Welcoming Guo's attendance to a secretarial meeting of security councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members and his visit to Kyrgyzstan, Atambayev noted that Kyrgyzstan cherishes its traditional friendship with China.
Atambayev said his country is willing to strengthen high-level contacts and communications with China and advance bilateral cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, transportation and law enforcement.
Kyrgyzstan, the president said, is also willing to step up bilateral coordination within the framework of multilateral organizations like the SCO, and to boost common development and prosperity.
Guo attended the secretarial meeting of security councils of the SCO members and visited Kyrgyzstan on April 28-30.
On Monday, Guo told the secretarial meeting that China will give full support to law enforcement and security cooperation within the framework of the SCO.
China is ready to keep close coordination and cooperation with all parties to contribute more to realizing long-term stability and common prosperity in the whole region, he said.
The SCO, founded in 2001, groups China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
