Xiang Weiyi, the youngest survivor of the 2011 bullet train crash, has gone home to Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, after undergoing a year and a half of treatment and rehabilitation in Shanghai for the injury to her left leg in the accident.

The 3-year-old girl, nicknamed Yiyi, whose parents along with other 38 people were killed in the train crash near Wenzhou in July 2011, will live with her uncle's family and begin kindergarten soon, Qianjiang Evening News reported.

Her uncle, Xiang Yuyu, brought her from Shanghai to his home in Wenzhou on March 24.

Xiang said he has been longing to send Yiyi off to school in the mornings and pick her up in the evenings. "Now it's about to come true. I feel really good."

Yiyi will have the company of Xiang's 1-year-old son, and she likes him very much, the man said.

Xiang said the girl has seldom talked about her parents or asked where they were. The family won't avoid that subject if the girl asks, he said, but neither will they bring it up.

Yiyi is cheerful now and seems to have moved beyond the tragedy, he said.

She will continue her physical therapy in Wenzhou. According to a medical appraisal in Shanghai, she has a lesser degree of disability than was expected.
