The US Consulate General in Chengdu announced today on its official micro-blog that US Vice President Joe Biden will visit Chengdu from August 20 to 22.
He will be the second incumbent US vice president to visit Chengdu in history. George Bush, then Vice President, visited Chengdu 26 years ago.
He unveiled the US consulate at the opening ceremony, which helped consolidate the fledging friendly relationship between China and the United States. Sino-US relations have greatly developed since then and have achieved great results in various fields including economy and trade, culture and education.
