The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) said the sales of imported vehicles this year in China will be more than 1 million, the Beijing Business Today reported on Tuesday.
Rao Da, CPCA's vice general secretary, said more individuals buy imported vehicles now, rather than the State-owned companies who bought in the past, and about 95 percent of the purchasing nowadays is passenger cars.
China Automobile Trading Co Ltd expected a more than 30 percent growth rate this year in the sale of imported vehicles. Data from the company showed sales in May increased 34.2 percent year-on-year.
The sales of super-luxurious brands soared 151.9 percent as the Shanghai International Automobile Exhibition boosted promotion. Luxurious brands saw a 47.2 percent sale growth in May. BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen were ranked the top three.
