The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's top economic planner, has examined and approved the framework for developing emerging strategic industries during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) period, China Securities Journal reported Tuesday. Strategic industries are those which will strategically benefit the country in the future.
The NDRC also urged related departments to draft individual plans for the development of these industries during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) period and submit them to the State Council, China's Cabinet for approval.
Plans to develop the green industry are almost complete. The 12th Five-Year Plan for the bio-industry, also led by the NDRC, is still in need of expert opinions. The development plan for the emerging energy industry has been submitted to the State Council and is awaiting approval, the report said.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) will be in charge of making development plans for high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, new energy vehicles and a new generation of information technology, the newspaper reported.
