A nonprofit established in Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning province, in 2006 trains guide dogs. Sixty-seven guide dogs have "graduated" from the base and are helping blind people in 14 provinces across the country. The base now has 23 staffers, 54 adult dogs and 35 puppies. But training a dog is not an easy job, and more than 10 trainers have quit. "Only those who truly love the job stay," one staffer Liang Jia said. Statistics show there are over 16 million blind people in China, but less than 1 percent of them have guide dogs.[Photo/Xinhua]
