Fine for peeing outside toilet

China is pushing for greater civic-mindedness and cleanliness and is trying to regulate uncivilized behavior, including how you pee in a toilet.

Since last fall, Shenzhen has moved to regulate the use of public toilets to improve the city's cleanliness, reported nandu.com on Tuesday.

For example, a sign reads, "100 yuan ($16) fine for peeing outside the toilet", referring to the squat toilets in public places. However, there are obvious difficulties in enforcing these rules.

Nobody has yet received a ticket since the regulations came in force, for obvious reasons. As a staff member explained, "We have trouble collecting proof [about who peed outside], so of course we can't fine them."
