Building resident caught with 36 door handles

An old Chinese saying goes: a hare never eats the grass by its own burrow. This "highly educated" man, however, seems to have hardly learned wisdom from the old saying and used his brains at a wrong place.

A man, who has a Master's degree, was arrested for reportedly stealing 36 door handles of the fireproof doors from the building where he lived in Shanghai on Jan 9.

A staff member of the property management company said the first batch of door handles went missing on Dec 17 and then the rest kept disappearing. The police caught the alleged thief through the help of surveillance video and discovered that he was the resident of the building.

The suspect said he wanted to take the door handles to his native place to use in his new home.
