Worn-out banknotes a good fuel
A bank in Luoyang of Henan province figured out a creative way to use worn-out banknotes – to fuel the generator, reported Dahe Daily on Monday.
With low water content and high heat value, a ton of worn-out banknotes can generate 660 KWH of electricity. Fueled by this new biomass energy, Henan province produces 1.32 million KWH of electricity a year, equivalent to the capacity of 4,000 tons of coal.
Traditionally, worn-out banknotes are burned or used in papermaking.
