Fat plants stopped at customs
Succulent plants, also called fat plants, have won many people over with their juicy, cute looks, and have been selling fast. Still, some vendors have had trouble getting them past the border.
A saleswoman bringing nine carts containing 1,000 succulents from South Korea to Guangzhou, Guangdong province, was stopped by the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, reported Nan Fang Daily on Tuesday.
The customs officer said succulents are prohibited in China. The plants may be invasive or carry pests or diseases, and may cause problems for China’s ecosystem.
