Zoo marks anniversary of elephant couple
Shanghai zoo celebrated 40th anniversary of an Asian elephant couple on Saturday, reported Shanghai Morning Post.
The couple has given birth to eight children, a breeding record for Asian elephants in China. To mark the anniversary, some tourists brought fruits and vegetables for the pair.

User uploads photos of puppy in washing machine
Several photos were uploaded on social-networking site Facebook on Friday that showed a white puppy struggling in a washing machine that was switched on. The user,identified as a user in Hong Kong, who had uploaded the images claimed it was a fast way to wash a dog, according to chinanews.com on Saturday.
An organization that focuses on animal protection reported the case to the Hong Kong police and an investigation has been launched.

Tough time for prison escapee
Wang Damin, one of the three inmates who escaped from a prison in Yanshou county, hid himself in a pond for over five hours to avoid detection by police helicopter or officers, heilongjiang.dbw.cn reported on Saturday.
When he was caught, Wang asked for food adding that he had tried to find food from cemetery oblations but failed.
Three inmates broke from a detention center and killed a guard in Yanshou county of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province on Tuesday. Two of them have been re-captured while one is still on the run.

Father, son cycle for 22 days
A man and his son arrived in Chengdu, Sichuan province, on Sunday after cycling for 22 days from Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning province, to son’s university in Chengdu.
Although both of them are experienced cyclists, this is the first time they have covered such a long distance.
The father said cycling is dangerous on some part of the roads, but it is an unforgettable journey.
