High-profile philanthropist to buy US homeless lunch
Chen Guangbiao, a high-profile philanthropist in China, took out a large ad in the New York Times to announce he's teamed up with American charities to offer a free lunch at a hotel to the poor and homeless, chinanews.com reported on Tuesday.
Chen said he's looking for 1,000 poor and homeless people to enjoy the lunch between 11:30 am–1:30 pm on June 25 in Central Park. Those attending can also claim $300.
A contact email is shown on the ad to sign up those who want to participate. The maverick philanthropist has completed dozens of charitable activities that were unusual or controversial.

One 'fishes' a mammoth tooth in Jilin
A local, Wu Desheng, was fishing when he reeled in a mammoth tooth fossil in Binjiang Garden where part of the Songhua River flows, xwh.cn reported Wednesday.
According to Wu, the fossil is very hard and 10cm long, with a smooth surface and subtle spots. It seems to belong to a kind of large animals.
Pi Fusheng, a researcher from the city of Jilin's political advisory body, said the tooth is in a very good shape and belonged to an adult mammoth.

48 'kungfu masters' employed by police in Guizhou province
The police have hired 48 graduates of the Shaolin Tagou School, a well known martial arts school at the foot of Songshan Mountain where Shaolin temple is located, Dahe Daily reported Tuesday. The graduates are joining the local SWAT team in Qiannan, Guizhou province,
It is the first time Tagou School has sent dozens of graduates to work as SWAT police, according to the chairman of Shaolin Tagou education group.
It marks a new cooperation between martial arts students and the police.

11-year-old girl suffers physical punishment at school
An 11-year-old girl was forced to lie topless on her stomach for 4 hours by her teacher, in Guannan, Yunnan province, chinanews.com reported Tuesday.
The injured girl, whose first name is Hong, is a Grade-5 student from Moxiang Central Primary School. She suffered physical punishment because she had not finished her homework on time. Hong has been forced to lie topless on her stomach in 2 to 3 class sessions, with the whole class watching. Her teacher also stepped on her back on June 10. Hong was made to lay on the floor in another 4 class sessions the following day for no reason, the website reported.
After the punishment was reported to school officials, the girl was sent to the hospital and the teacher apologized.

Principal accused of molesting students
The principal of a primary school in Longman county in Guangdong province was detained on accusations that he molested female students, Southern Metropolis Daily reported on Tuesday.
Some parents reported to police that their daughters' private parts were swollen. The kids said that the principal, surnamed Weng, had often touched their private parts in class for four years. Police said they suspect Weng of molesting 18 female students.

Foreigner beaten to death in Fuzhou
A foreigner in Fuzhou was beaten to death by several men on Sunday morning in front of an entertainment hall in the city, Strait Metropolis Daily reported on Tuesday.
An eyewitness said that the foreigner, about 30 years old, was intimate with a 20-year-old woman in the entertainment hall before he was killed. The investigation is continuing.

The parents of a Zigong teenager who drowned while attempting to save a classmate donated his body for medical education and research to the West China Medical Center of Sichuan University, West China Metropolis Daily reported.
Liu Jun, 14, died while trying to push a drowning girl to the bank of a reservoir on June 7.
