Media workers top 10 sleepless professions
The Chinese Medical Doctor Association launched the 2014 China Sleep Quality Index research report on Sunday ahead of World Sleep Day, which falls on March 21. The research shows that, in general, the sleep quality of Chinese residents is good and has a great development trend, although 30 percent of residents' sleep quality still falls short.
The research investigated sleep quality of people from all walks of life and revealed that media workers top the list of 10 most sleepless professions around China.
Also, the report shows the sleep quality of teachers is the best.

Xi ate local noodles in Henan
President Xi Jinping made a surprise visit to Henan province and visited the Jiao Yulu Memorial Hall in Lankao county in Kaifeng, Central China's Henan province on Monday. Jiao Yulu (1922-1964), was a devoted county Party chief and a symbolic hero who dedicated himself to the improvement of local people's lives in Lankao county.
Xi ate stewed noodles (Huimian, a local snack) for lunch in a canteen in Jiao Yulu Cadres College, and chatted with other dinners.

Old woman makes money for her son's marriage
A 75-year-old woman, Yang Zhiqiao, who dresses up as Mickey Mouse, attracted tourists to take photos with her at Wangcheng Park's entrance in Luoyang, Henan province, Luoyang Evening News reported on Monday.
The old woman said she wants to earn enough money so her son can afford to get married.
"My son is 40 years old, and is still single now. I don't want to be a liability for him," said Yang.

A street cleaner on a viaduct,surname Zhou, was hit by a car from behind when he was cleaning the road on March 16. The force of the impact force threw Zhou up into the air and over the side, where he then fell from the bridge. Zhou was killed on the spot.
Many online commentators called for drivers to slow down and cherish sanitation workers' lives.

Bus catches fire on Qianmen Street
A bus caught fire at about 10 am Monday on Qianmen Street, the main east-west road just south of Tian'anmen Square. No one was injured. The driver and conductor on Bus No 44 immediately evacuated the vehicle when the fire started. Police and firefighters later blocked the street until the blaze was extinguished. Traffic resumed at 10:40 am. The reason for the fire was under investigation.

Big project for tree nurseries planned
The capital plans to develop 100,000 mu (6,667 hectares) of tree nurseries in flat areas, Chinanews.com reported on Monday. The city's Bureau of Landscape and Forestry said that 20,000 mu will be finished by 2014. The tree nursery will increase the forest coverage of the city's flat area by 1 percent, cut carbon dioxide emissions in the city by 120,000 metric tons a year, release 88,000 tons of oxygen into the air, and create 20,000 new jobs annually.

Five arrested on tomb robbing charges
Five people have been arrested in Xianyang for allegedly robbing an ancient tomb, Xi'an Evening News reported on Monday. A man surnamed Yan worked at a construction site in the city and told four residents that he found an ancient tomb on Feb 23 while working. Rather than reporting the find to the local heritage authority, the five suspects are suspected of stealing six relics from the tomb built during the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC).

Hurt monkey found in stable condition
An injured golden monkey was rescued by some farmers in Xinchang township, Ningshan county, Xi'an Evening News reported on Monday. The farmers found the animal with a broken leg in a run-down bathroom in the mountainous town and reported to forest staff members, who then sent the monkey to the county animal protection station. The monkey, which is under first-class State protection, was in stable condition and stayed in the station for further treatment.
