Older woman to compete in pole dancing
The upcoming World Pole Dancing Championship has brought to attention the oldest pole dancer in China. Shi Xiaohong, who was born in the 1960s, has been pole dancing for two years. Shi says pole dancing is a good way to exercise your body and stay fit, and she is willing to compete with younger people. The woman was largely hailed for her well-preserved figure and passion by netizens after her pictures were posted online.

Snow leopard prints captured
Tracks made by snow leopards were recently captured in a remote forest near Yangzi River, Yellow River and Lantsang River in Qinghai province, according to the forestry bureau of Henan county, Qinghai province.
The camera crew has been following the snow leopards for two months trying to capture the tracks. The snow leopard is listed as a national endangered species in China. The number of snow leopards living in China is even lower than the giant panda.

Actor's gambling debts
A famous movie actor in China is accused of owing tens of thousands of yuan to casinos in Hong Kong and recently disappeared, Hong Kong media reported.
A short video clip of the casino owner in Hong Kong chasing these debts was recently put on YouTube. The owner said the actor has been gambling with his friends in the past year and signed the bill every time. He said in the video clip that if the actor does not repay the money on time, he will expose more personal information about him. He did not reveal the name of the actor, and his face was distorted in the video.

Crackdown follows woman
A young woman surnamed Yi, who worked as a prostitute in Dongguan, Guangdong province, wanted to continue her work in Bama county, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, but was caught by local police on Tuesday. Yi had to leave Dongguan after the city’s recent crackdown on pornography.

Tragic death for elephant trainer
A 46-year-old elephant trainer at a zoo in Kunming, Yunnan province, was found dead in the elephant cage on Wednesday. The man was injured in many parts of his body, and was thought to have been crushed dead by the elephant.
The elephant, which was in the same dorm as the trainer, was born at the zoo in 1992, and the trainer has been working at the zoo for 24 years. He and the elephant had always gotten along.

Expert opposes trendy new words
The misuse and wide spread of words such as diaosi, which usually describes someone as a loser, is likely to cause unstable factors to society’s development, said Cai Guoxuan, vice-president of the Guangzhou Academy of Social Science, in Guangdong province.
She said the newly emerged words, such as diaosi, may lead to communication problems between people, as they have to explain the meaning of such new words. She said language is the key way that people communicate, and blurry ideas about new words or misuse of new words will certainly bring barriers to social communication.
Disqualified from CPPCC
Liu Yingxia, who is currently vice-chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry of Commerce, has been disqualified to be on the national committee of CPPCC. The decision was approved during a meeting of CPPCC on Thursday. The 42-year-old is also the head of an enterprise in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, and is believed to be worth up to one billon yuan.

HK court seeks woman
A woman accused of money laundering, up to 10 billion Hong Kong dollars, using eight different identities, has disappeared. The 21-year-old was released on bail in December 2013, with 30 million Hong Kong dollars. But she disappeared in January, and failed to appear in court for a hearing on Wednesday. The court has ordered an arrest warrant.
