Group fight on flight
A group of Chinese travelers from Wuhan, Hubei province, had a big fight on a flight as it was about to take off from Phuket International Airport to Wuhan.
The fight was started by a misunderstanding of a Chinese couple's quarrel, and then escalated into a group fight, causing a one-hour delay of the plane's take-off. Some people involved in the fight were taken by Thai police, and 29 passengers' travel schedules were affected.

Cash promo
A real estate company in Xinyang, Henan province, launched a promotion campaign by spreading 100,000 yuan ($165,000) in cash to the public on Valentine's Day, Feb 14. The cash caused crowds of people to flock to the site, scrambling to grab the cash..
But most of the cash was blown away by the strong wind that day, and many people were hurt as they fought fiercely to reach for the cash. A man surnamed Wang got the largest amount of cash, about 3,000 yuan. Local authorities said the company was in violation of the country's financial regulations.

Violence against doctor
Sun Dongtao, a doctor in the ENT department of a hospital in Tsitsihar, Heilongjiang province, was beaten to death by a young patient, who was not satisfied with the treatment he got from the hospital. The patient broke into Sun's office while Sun was with patients, and hit the doctor on the head with a steel pipe. Sun was 45 years old.

One-man crusade
Wang Xiuyong, an elderly man in Dongguan, Guangdong province, has been working on eliminating local pornography on his own for the past 20 years, and was recently revealed by the media.
Wang said he was happy to see the recent media exposure of the city's large scale sex trade. He has been doing his own work to clean up the sex trade, by locating such venues in the city and reporting it to local police. But the man's efforts were often rejected by the police, who said, "You are an old man. This is not your business."

Old man stalker
A 52-year-old man surnamed Guo in Fuyang, Anhui province, claimed he was in love with a 16-year-old girl in the neighborhood. To express his love, Guo wrote long love letters to the girl, made a streamer declaring his love and standing in front of her home, and even broke into the girl's house. The girl, who is still in middle school, was frightened so much that she could not go to school.

Xi's work review
A recent quote from Chinese President Xi Jinping, "My personal time is mostly occupied with work," has led to a media review of the president's work activities in the past 15 months. The review by Beijing Youth Daily said the president has visited 14 countries on five continents during the past 15 months. He also spent 39 days inspecting different regions around China, and attended 63 meetings and conferences.

Homemade luxury sports car
A 50-year-old farmer in Zhengzhou, Henan province, came under the media spotlight after he built his own "homemade Lamborghini", which he made by copying the appearance of a Lamborghini. The farmer, surnamed Guo, said he spent more than six months working on the car, which he made for his grandson, and it can run about 60 kilometers.

Husband swap
Two sisters in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, revealed a long-kept secret -- that they had "exchanged husbands" many years go. The secret was revealed when one of the sisters, Liu Li, was applying for legal residency for her daughter, Liu Yan, and was refused because local police said she already had one son. She later confessed that she and her younger sister fell in love with each other's husbands about 10 years ago. Liu Yan is the daughter she had with her previous brother-in-law, now her husband.
