Biokangtai, the largest hepatitis B vaccine producer in China, has suspended production. Food and drug authorities sent officials to investigate the quality of its vaccine, and the field inspection will take about 20 days, 21st Century Business Herald reported.

Eight infants died after getting injections of the hepatitis B vaccine produced by the company as of Dec 24.

A local court in Hunan province started hearing a homicide case recently, five months after the case triggered attention on the Internet.

On July 17, four chengguan (urban management officials) officers had a dispute with two vendors, causing the death of one vendor, Deng Zhengjia. Witnesses said the officers used a tire iron to hit Deng on the head, but the officers said Deng just fell down on his own and died.
