Officials in Guizhou city of Guizhou province said they will seriously look into a local village officer who reportedly splurged 733,800 yuan ($120,416) on his daughter's wedding banquet, the latest case amid a national ban on official extravagance, China Youth Daily reported Saturday.
Chen Shaoxiang, leader of the Party commission in Jinguan village, was exposed for accepting 5,000 yuan in wedding gifts from four local business managers each. The report said Chen is both a local Party leader and a board chairman of a company, which makes it hard to define whether the gifts are bribes.
