A company in Chongqing municipality offered a 1,111 yuan ($182) bonus to employees who didn't shop online at the office on Monday, or Nov 11, when online marketplace Taobao prompted a Singles Day shopping spree.
The move was aimed at getting workers to focus on their jobs that day, as well as reward them for their hard work during the National Day holidays.
