As of 8:00 am on Monday, 317,890 applicants qualified to sit the examination for the national civil service, with an average of 16 applicants vying for one vacancy, Liaoshen Evening News reported.
A post at the State Ethnic Affairs Commission is by far the most coveted spot, with 3,000 competing for one.
