Haining city, in Zhejiang province, has ranked top in regards to the construction of its countryside, and has been awarded, on multiple occasions, for its efforts.
The city launched a project to renovate its countryside in 2004, and about 1.2 billion yuan ($174.3 million) was invested into the upgrade from 2004 to 2013.
The first batch, consisting of 14 villages, were designed with different features, and have since been completed with the aim to be a cultural, tourism attraction.
