It takes less than a day to visit Qiantong village. Here are some spots for extended stays.

Nanxi Hot Spring

Located 20 km northeast from Qiantong, Nanxi is one of the three most famous hot springs in China. There is a direct bus from Ninghai's central bus station.

Hemudu Site

First excavated in 1973, Hemudu is a heritage site of the Neolithic culture in the Yangtze River region. Hemudu culture dates back about five to seven millenia. Located 80 km northeast from Qiantong, the site has a museum displaying domesticated rice, pile-dwellings, pottery and ivory artifacts from the Hemudu culture. Hemudu lacquerware is considered the earliest of its kind.

Fuquan Temple

Located 10 km northeast from Qiantong, Fuquan Temple is a major part of Ninghai's cultural heritage. Jianzhen, a Chinese monk who helped to spread Buddhism in Japan between 743 and 754, used to practice in the temple before he headed to Japan. There is a stone tablet in the temple which says: "This is a road to Tokyo."

Tiantai Mountain

Tiantai is at least 100 km northeast from Qiantong, but many say the mountain is a worthwhile trip. Tiantai was listed as a national park in 1988. Buddhists also consider it to be a sacred site. The Guoqing Temple on the mountain is the headquarters of the Tiantai sect of Buddhism and a major tourist destination.
