Flamenco musical

City guide: Shanghai

The musical Zorro was created by the Gipsy Kings and John Cameron in 2008. The production has been shown at West End, London, and toured internationally. This original production will tour China in October, stopping first in Shanghai, before moving to Beijing and other major cities. Its flamenco-based score and choreography will enliven the stage with youth and vitality.

Post-modern lacquer

Chinese started to create artwork with lacquer centuries ago. Contemporary artists have pushed the boundaries of lacquer art. The exhibition features such young lacquer artists as Zhong Sheng, Xie Zhen and Jin Hui. Exhibited works range from raw abstractions in lacquer painting to refined functional wares. Despite differences in form, each piece is an exploration of the material, an eloquent exercise in post-modern craft art expression.
