A lecture on traveling in Antarctica brought a cool breeze to the suffocating summer heat of Beijing on Saturday.
In the lecture hall of Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in the captial's 798 Art Zone, Cai Jinghui, Lonely Planet's China market representative and speaker of the event, unveiled the stories behind the publishing of his book "Fall in Antarctica."
As the first travel book on Antarctica written by a Chinese, "Fall in Antarctica" not only boasts of first-hand guidance, but publishes photographs on local scenery and wildlife.
During the conversation with his audience and fans, Cai said the most valuable experience is not the rare things you see along the way but the self-discovery accomplished through the journey. Your attitude towards life can be easily marked by a particular destination as Antarctica.
Cai was among a team of veteran travelers to tour Antarctica on an environmental protection project. They produced photographs on the region's endangered species and landscape to raise environmental awareness.
