Irtysh River: China's only east-to-west river

The only river in China to flow east to west is the Irtysh River, which begins in the glaciers on the southwestern slopes of the Altay Mountains in Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region. The river, also called "Backflow River," flows northwest through Habahe County into neighboring Kazakhstan and ends in the Arctic Ocean. [Photo/sohu.com]
