New energy vehicles to serve for Universiade

During the Universiade, 2011 new energy vehicles will be used for public transportation, making Shenzhen the city with the most new energy vehicles. On August 2nd, Shenzhen municipal party secretary Wang Rong visited the vehicles. He stated that this is a great display of "Making a Difference", and believes that as the popularization of new energy vehicles, Shenzhen citizens will enjoy bluer skies, clearer waters, and more beautiful white clouds.
2011 new energy vehicles will be put into use while the quantity demand for vehicles attains 3810 in the course of Universiade. As of August 3rd, 1774 Universiade vehicles have been manufactured, and can begin operating on August 5th as estimated.
7 types of new energy vehicles will be used in the Universiade, including 253 low floor BEV vehicles, 52.8% of the entire vehicles, facilitating the board and exit to all passengers. 58 reserved routes were arranged, covering 44 venues in the whole city. In addition, 40 BEV vehicles will provide transportation service for registered personnel such as athletes, technical officers and media.
It is estimated that in 2012, by the complete popularization of new energy vehicles, Shenzhen can achieve a reduction of 118,000 tons of fuel oil per year, and a decrease of CO2 annual emission by 147,000 tons.
