No tolerance to Chelsea defender Kenedy's insults

Despite his ensuing apology for the derogative remarks he made about China in videos posted on his Instagram account, Chelsea defender Kenedy was heckled and jeered by Chinese soccer fans during the Blues' pre-season friendly against Arsenal in Beijing.

Kenedy posted two videos last week while on tour with the Chelsea squad in China. The first was captioned "f*****g China" while the second showed a sleeping security guard with the caption "Wake up China, you idiot".

The videos prompted fierce criticism from Chinese soccer fans which led to the former Watford player deleting the offensive videos and apologizing, claiming his offensive remarks were not racist.

"Hello my friends, just wanna say sorry if someone was sad because I used the expression 'porra' was not racism, just a expression…big hug."

Chelsea Football Club also issued an apology, saying it was sorry for the social media messages posted by Kenedy and his behavior was well below the standards they expect of their players.

"Everyone at Chelsea Football Club has the utmost respect for the Chinese people, who have been the most incredible hosts and we are extremely grateful for their hospitality," it said.

It is without rhyme or reason that Kenedy made such insulting and venomous remarks about China. There were no grounds whatsoever for him insulting his hosts. Chinese people always warmly welcome any foreign sportsmen and women.

Kenedy's insulting words cannot be attributed to his outspoken manner, but should instead be attributed to his lack of respect for others.

However, this is not the first time racist remarks have been spoken by those in the FA Premier League. Clubs in England should exercise stricter management of their players and staff and demonstrate zero tolerance toward such derogative words.

An ever-stronger China has become more tolerant of foreign criticisms. But it will by no means tolerate such insulting opinions.
