Guangzhou Marathon returns for fifth year

More than 30,000 runners from 47 countries and regions will participate in an international marathon in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, next week.

The Guangzhou Marathon, which is scheduled for Dec 11, will also feature 38 professional runners.

Chinese sprinter Su Bingtian, 26, will be the image ambassador for the marathon, which was launched five years ago.

Organizers of the event will issue commemorative medals, featuring iconic landmarks of Guangzhou, for runners who have participated all five marathons.
