MONACO - Usain Bolt does not expect to lower his 100 metres world record of 9.58 seconds at the upcoming world championships.
The world and Olympic champion will run the 100 at the Diamond League meeting in Monaco on Friday, his last race over the distance before the Aug 27-Sept. 4 worlds in Daegu, South Korea.
"Given my injury and my back problems, I was a little behind (in my preparations). Since then, I have tried...to take my time to get back to my best level," the Jamaican told a news conference on Thursday before denying he could break his record this year.
"Certainly, everyone is waiting for me. But I will apply myself to win the world championships. The important thing in a career is to win major championships. The clock does not matter."
