BEIJING - Fans can book their seats for the 2011 China Open four months before the tournament swings off after the event's organizing company activated ticket sales recently.

This year's ticket sales are mainly on the Internet. Fans can log on to the event's official website, chinaopen.com.cn, or local online ticket box office, chinaopen.tmall.com, to purchase all kinds of tickets ranging from the indoor stand, the outdoor ground pass or VIP box. Tickets will also be available at the venue during the tournament.

In addition, a three-ticket family package and whole event pass are also available now, according to the organizer.

"Packages are our best sellers now. Twenty-five percent of the semifinals and finals packages were sold in two hours of the opening of sales. They are the most worthy choices," said Gu Yunhong, ticketing manager of the event's organizing committee.

According to the website, a single stand ticket for main draw matches sells at 180 yuan ($28) while the three-ticket package costs 390 yuan.

Meanwhile, curiosity abounds about the event's new main stadium, which is still being constructed and will be completed in August.

The new venue, which was started in 2009, will feature a retractable roof, 48 luxury VIP boxes and seating for 15,000 spectators, giving it the largest capacity of all Asian tennis venues.

Fans, who booked the top-notch seats in advance on May 27, also received gifts. The first buyer won a pass for a banquet with the tournament's aces while the 100th purchaser was granted the honor of taking photos inside the new court.

As the most prestigious tennis tournament in the country, the China Open combines the WTA's top-level crown jewel event with the ATP 500 tournament. Most of the world's best players will gather for the Oct 1-10 event.
