RIO DE JANEIRO - Upon landing onto Brazilian soil after another disappointing early return from the World Cup, head coach Dunga and his host of assistant coaches were fired on Sunday.

Dunga, his assistant coach Jorginho, supervisor Americo Faria and team doctor Jose Luiz Runco were all relieved of their duty with the Brazilian national soccer team.
Just as in 2002 and 2006, the CBF will reunion in order to make a concerted decision as to Dunga's successor. The entity divulged that their decision should be made by the end of July. Early rumors have pointed to former head coach of the Brazilian national team and newly signed head coach of the Palmeiras soccer team, Luis Felipe Scolari, or "Big Phil".
Nevertheless, Scolari already declared that his only focus right now is the Palmeiras soccer team. Another name loosely mentioned is the head coach of Corinthians, Mano Menezes. However, the president of Corinthians, Andres Sanches, announced that such rumors are false.
A third early possibility is Vanderlei Luxemburgo, currently the head coach of Atletico-MG. The CBF will hope to name their new head coach promptly.
Brazil still has a couple of friendly matches marked later in the year. Additionally, in 2014, Brazil will host the World Cup and they do not want to be embarrassed on their home turf.
