China has never disappointed when it comes to showcasing its greatness at a major sporting event. When Beijing hosted the Olympic Games two years ago, viewers around the world were awed by the magnificent opening ceremony.
This year, Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, will get a chance to display this land's amazing richness to the outside world. The provincial government recently invited 48 members of the Asian media to visit the city and experience the preparations that are being made to host the 16th Asian Games, the world's second largest sporting event after the summer Olympics. More than 10,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries are expected to compete in 42 events, with almost 10,000 journalists covering the Games.
