Guangzhou offers free rides during Games

Part of the public transportation service will be free to people in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, during the Asian Games and the Asian Para Games, Guangzhou Daily reported on Monday.

On weekdays from Nov 1 to 29 and from Dec 5 to 21,people in Guangzhou will be able to use public transportation for free, namely subways, buses and waterbuses. The airport express, taxis, Zhujiang River tour routes and bus routes connecting downtown and suburban areas, however, are not included in the free public transportation.

Participants of the Asian Games and the Para Games, such as athletes and accompanying officials, staff members of registered media and sponsors, and volunteers can also enjoy the free transportation for the whole week.

Spectators who have tickets to the Asian Games opening ceremony preview and related shows will be able to use the free transportation from midnight on the day the show begins to 4 am the next day.
