Nepal bids farewell for 16th Asian Games players

KATHMANDU - The Nepal National and International Players Association organized a bid farewell in Kathmandu Thursday to the players participating in the 16th Asian Games to be held in November in Guangzhou, China.

All the players participating in different categories in the Asian Games including imminent sports personalities were present at the program organized in capital Kathmandu.

Speaking at the program, Chair of the Nepalese Upper House Subash Chandra Nemwang and chief guest at the program, wished all the players good luck and encouraged them for their best performance in their respective games.

Nemwang also said that although the sports sector has been lacking adequate support from the government, it is the spirit of the players that has always made them determined.

Likewise, General Secretary of the Nepal Sports Council, Hari Babu Chaudhary shed light on the importance of the Asian Games which is now being hosted by China.

"The 16th Asian Games will be the center of attraction for the entire world, therefore I request all the players to face the challenge with utmost determination," he said.

According to the reports, Nepal's participation in 14 different sports has already been confirmed. Nepal will be participating in Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Cricket, Judo, Karate, Shooting, Soft Tennis, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Weight Lifting, Wrestling and Wushu.

Talking to Xinhua, all rounder of the Nepalese Women's Cricket Team, Janaki Bhatta said that these kinds of events were a huge encouragement to all the players who will be representing the nation to the world.
