Guangzhou - Guangzhou city of southern China has prepared well for the Asia Games set to open on Nov 12, a top official with China's sport authorities said Wednesday (October 13).

"Preparation for the Asian Games will soon be completed after six years of intense work since 2004 when Guangzhou won the bid for hosting the Games," said Yang Shu'an, Vice Minister of General Administration of Sport Administration of China and the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee's Vice President.

Test runs of all the Games' 53 competition venues will be carried out simultaneously on Oct 16, 23 and 29, which will mark the completion of the preparation work, Yang added.

TV sets, shampoo and other daily necessities have already been placed in the apartments that will accommodate athletes and reporters.

All the 53 competition and 17 training venues have passed examinations on their functionality. Athletes will be able to train in the venues from Nov 5, Yang said.

During the 15-day Games, a total of 10,156 athletes from 45 Asian countries and regions will compete in 476 events in 42 sporting fixtures.
