Guangdong Special: Regional tourism events showcase Guangdong's charm

The Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival will begin September 27.

The festival is jointly organized by the World Tourism Organization, the China National Tourism Administration and the Guangdong provincial government. Activities will be hosted in several cities throughout the province as follows:

Guangzhou

Guangdong Tourism Angels

Sept 26, Zengcheng, Guangzhou

Five hundred women selected as Guangdong tourism angels will appear at the festival's opening ceremony.

Parade in celebration of the Asian Games

Sept 26 - Oct 1, Liuhua and Pazhou complexes at the China Import and Export Fair, Baiyun mountain

The parade will feature 40 floats sponsored by the Guangzhou Asian Games, Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, and several Guangdong cities.

Children's painting and fairy tale composition contest

Sept 27, Guangdong Museum

Judges will select 200 paintings and stories that best represent the slogan "love the earth, love tour - the beautiful homeland in my heart."

World Tourism Day photography exhibition

Sept 25-28, Pedestrian precinct of Beijing Road, Guangdong Museum

More than 200,000 pieces from around the world will be showcased.

Tours for overseas Chinese

Sept 24-29, Guangdong

Tours are designed for Chinese working or permanently residing overseas. Selected tours include those for businesspeople and politicians. A reception hosted by the overseas Chinese affairs office of Guangdong provincial government will follow the sightseeing excursions.

Night of Sister Cities variety show

20:00-21:30, Sept 26, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

Performing groups from "sister" regions in Sweden, Italy, Japan and South Korea will take part, along with local troupes.

China Xintang jean image ambassador competition and China Xintang international jean fashion festival

Competitions are hosted in Dalian, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Los Angeles, U.S.A. and Vancouver, Canada.
