No Maradona meetings for China coach jobs

BEIJING - A spokeswoman for Argentine football great Diego Maradona says he has not held any discussions about a coaching job in China during his ongoing tour of the country.

Maradona's visit, organized by the Red Cross society in China, had sparked speculation that he could be in line to take over China's national team or a club side in the country.

However spokesperson Tang Qinghui said "Maradona definitely has not met with any Chinese football clubs during this trip to talk about any offers or related matters."

Asked about suggestions Maradona could be the new manager of Iran's national team, Tang said she put the issue to Maradona and "he didn't say anything but just smiled."
