Bangladesh hopeful to win Asian Games cricket

DHAKA - Bangladesh is hopeful to win the upcoming Asian Games cricket competition to be held in Guangzhou, China.

Enayet Husain Siraj, director of Bangladesh Cricket Board, told Xinhua Tuesday that Bangladesh will send men's and women's cricket teams consisting 15 players apiece to the Asian Games.

"The women's cricket team has started training and they will go to China on November 7. The men's cricket team will start training at the beginning of November and will finish before they leave for China on November 18," he said.

Siraj said among all the participating teams for Asian Games cricket competition, only Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are full members of the International Cricket Council.

"I think Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have more chances to win the champion. If Bangladeshi teams play well, they are hopeful to win," he said.

Cricket, the most popular game in Bangladesh, will make its debut in the Asian Games.
