"As a starter in this event, participation and accumulating experience are our priority. And we will try to make breakthroughs in our strong events", said Huang Qiang, deputy director of Social Sport Guidance Center under State Sport General Administration in 2010 International Roller Skating Festival in Haining, China.

According to Huang, roller skating is introduced in the 16th Guangzhou Asian Games as an official event for the first time. Chinese Roller Skating Association(CRSA) and Asia Roller Skating Federation(ARSF) have made joint efforts to push roller skating into the Asian Games.

It is not because China is strong in it. "We just want to popularize this kind of sport. China is still weak in roller skating worldwide, even in Asia. So winning a gold medal in the Asian Games is not easy." said Huang.

The roller skating competitions will produce a total of nine gold medals, six for Roller Skating and three for Figure Roller Skating. The Chinese team comprises eight male and eight female athletes.

Huang indicated that the Chinese Team has certain strength in some particular small terms of figure skating.
